Tania Tandias Flamenco & Spanish Dance Summer Classes 2018

Classes are held at Kanopy Dance Studio, 341 State St. 2nd Floor above the GAP, Madison, Wisconsin, unless noted otherwise.

All classes will include instruction in flamenco dance technique, which includes footwork, arm and hand work, rhythmic hand-clapping and turns.

Classes are open to both women and men. Partners are not necessary.   Adult classes are open to students aged 12 years and up.

Discounts:  FEES CAN BE PRORATED TO ACCOMMODATE SUMMER VACATION PLANS! FOR THE AUGUST INTENSIVE, THERE WILL BE $10 DISCOUNT FOR PAYMENT RECEIVED BY JULY 9, 2018, PLUS $20 OFF FOR STUDENTS TAKING MORE THAN ONE FULL-SESSION CLASS. DISCOUNTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS PAYING PRORATED FEES.

SESSION 1: JUNE 21- JULY 16

Beginning Class- tangos

Students will learn the basics of the “baile flamenco”, which include compás (rhythm), footwork, arm & handwork, turns, and choreography.

Advanced Beginning Class- alegrías silencio and castellana   

In this class, students will continue to build their knowledge of flamenco dance through more challenging technique exercises. Compás (rhythm) and choreography will also be taught.

Fee: $60 (4 sessions)

Ongoing Intermediate Class- livianas

In this class, dancers will focus on intermediate-level technique drills, combinations, and choreography.

Sunday Technique, Palmas & Musicality Class

Sharpen your skills with footwork, armwork and turn exercises.  This class will also focus on palmas accompaniment to varying flamenco palos. Bring your own choreographies for your fellow students to practice palmas and jaleos!

AUGUST SUMMER INTENSIVE WITH GUEST INSTRUCTOR DANICA SENA

About the guest instructor:  Danica Sena

Internationally-acclaimed Master flamenco and Spanish dance teacher/choreographer/performer, Danica Sena, has created and performed over 200 original works for television, independent film and stage in Spain (where she resided for a decade), Japan, Mexico, Czech Republic, Hawaii and all states of the continental U.S.  Her intrinsic cultural understanding of the art she imparts combined with a unique methodology, musicality and passion for teaching has made her one of the most-solicited in her field.  In 2012 she received the great honor of guest teaching for one month in Madrid, Valencia and Castellon, Spain.  Ms. Sena has been a proud faculty member of ODC School in San Francisco since 2004 and acts regularly as adjunct faculty at OBT, Dominican University and USF.  Danica Sena was also recently awarded the 2014 San Francisco Bay Area Dancers’ Choice Award.
